I Can’t Hear Any Sound from My CommBox?

If you're not hearing sound from your CommBox screen or soundbar, follow these steps to check your volume settings, cables, and sound output device.

Applies To

All CommBox Touchscreens and Commercial Displays, including setups with soundbars

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1

Check the inbuilt speaker volume

  • Press the volume buttons on the front of your CommBox screen.

  • You should see a volume bar appear on the screen.

  • If nothing shows up, try using the volume buttons on the remote instead to test if it’s a button issue.

Step 2

Using a connected soundbar?

  • Check that the soundbar is powered on—look for a small light on the front.

  • Make sure the audio cable is connected to the input port on the soundbar and firmly connected to the screen.

Step 3

Check the sound settings on your CommBox

  • Tap the Inputs icon on the CommBox home screen

  • Tap the icon in the bottom right corner to access additional settings

  • Use the arrows at the top to scroll to ‘Sound Mode’

  • Under Sound Output, make sure it’s set to External Device if using a soundbar
💡 Tip: Switch it back to Inbuilt Speaker if you're not using external audio

Step 4

If connecting a laptop via HDMI
Make sure the volume is turned up on your laptop and that the audio output is set to the CommBox screen, not the laptop speakers.

  • For Windows:

    • Right-click the speaker icon in the bottom right of your screen

    • Click Sound Settings

    • At the top, under Output device, click the drop-down and select CommBox (HDMI)

  • For Mac:

    • Click the Apple logo in the top left corner

    • Select System Preferences > Sound > Output

    • Choose HDMI Audio or CommBox from the list

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work

  • Still no sound? Restart both your device and the CommBox screen

  • Cables secure but no audio? Try a different HDMI port or cable

  • Using Bluetooth audio? Make sure the speaker is paired and selected as the output device
