How to use the side menus on your CommBox Classic S4

The side menus on your CommBox Classic S4 give you fast access to your favourite apps, settings, and tools—no matter which input you’re using.

What is the side menu?

The side menu is a collapsible menu located on the left and right edges of your CommBox screen. It stays accessible across all inputs—including HDMI, USB-C, or OPS—so you can quickly launch apps or settings without switching screens.

How to open the side menu

  • Tap the handle on the left or right edge of the screen

Classic S4 side handles



  • The menu will slide out from the side

  • Tap anywhere outside the menu to close it

💡 Tip: You can open the menu from either side, depending on what’s more convenient in your space.

Default side menu items

The side menu includes both fixed and customisable items:

Help Opens the Help app with video and user guides

Home Returns you to the Android Home screen
Back Takes you back to the last Android action you
did
Launcher Opens the Launcher (apps, inputs, tools, links)
Browser Opens the built-in Chrome browser
Whiteboard Opens the CommBox Whiteboard
Connect Launches CommBox Connect for wireless screen mirroring
Store Opens CommBox Store
Files  Opens the File App

🔒 Note: “Help” and “Navigation” are fixed items and can’t be removed or renamed.

Customising the side menu

Want quick access to your favourite apps or web links? Here’s how:

  1. Open the Launcher from the side menu

  2. Drag any app or link into the side menu

  3. Drop it where you want it to appear

You can also:

  • Rearrange items by long-pressing and dragging

  • Remove shortcuts by long-pressing and tapping Delete

💡 Reset the side menu layout by going to: Settings > Applications > Side Menu > Clear App Data.

Why it’s useful

  • Always available—no need to switch inputs to access tools

  • Great for multitasking during lessons or meetings

  • Perfect for pinning commonly used apps like timers, browsers or casting tools

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work

  • Can’t drag or drop items?

    • Make sure you’re in the Launcher, not inside an app

  • Side menu won’t open?

    • Try both sides of the screen

    • Restart the CommBox if needed
