Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Confirm your screen is ready for CommBox AI
CommBox AI is available on the CommBox Classic S5 and is purchased as a bundle that includes the AI Pen and a 5-year AI licence for the on-screen apps. The tools are designed to help you ask questions, summarise content, add captions and translations, analyse videos, and solve maths problems directly on the screen.
Step 2: Update your screen
Open Settings > System > System update and install the latest CommBox OS update before you begin. This helps CommBox AI run smoothly and gives you access to the latest features.
💡 Tip: Keeping the screen updated helps AI tools stay reliable and ready to use every day.
Step 3: Connect your screen to the internet
Connect the screen to Wi-Fi or Ethernet. CommBox AI features need an internet connection to work.
Step 4: Enter your AI licence code
Open any new AI tool. A registration window appears. Enter your registration code to activate the AI apps on your screen.
Step 5: Open the AI tools
Open the Launcher and look for these AI apps:
- Ask AI
- Circle & Go
- Live Subtitles
- Video Pilot
- Calculator Pro
You can drag these apps to the home screen or side menu for faster access.
Step 6: Use Ask AI for fast answers and screen control
Ask AI lets you talk or type to get explanations, examples, translations and screen actions like opening apps or changing volume. You can open it from the side menu and launcher, or by pressing and holding the Voice key on the AI Pen. Responses can be copied, shared or inserted into the whiteboard.
Step 7: Use Circle & Go to analyse content on screen
Circle & Go lets you circle text, equations, images or diagrams and get a quick summary, explanation, related media or quiz content. Draw a closed loop around the content and wait for the pop-up result.
Step 8: Use Live Subtitles for captions and translation
Live Subtitles turns audio into on-screen captions and can translate speech into other languages in real time. You can choose the spoken language, translation language, layout, font size, microphone and system sound settings.
Step 9: Use Video Pilot to summarise videos
Video Pilot analyses a video and creates a transcript, text summary and timeline with labelled sections. You can load a video from USB or local storage, run the AI analysis, then export the summary or subtitles.
Step 10: Use Calculator Pro for handwritten maths
Calculator Pro recognises handwritten equations, performs calculations, draws graphs and works with geometry. Write equations in the workspace, add “=” for horizontal equations, or draw a line under vertical sums. You can also generate graphs from handwritten functions.
Step 11: Use AI inside the Whiteboard
CommBox AI is built into the Whiteboard app. It can create topic ideas, mind maps and AI-generated visuals from selected content. You can also use voice commands with the AI Pen to open Whiteboard or generate a mind map.
Step 12: Set up and use the CommBox AI Pen
Charge the AI Pen with the supplied USB-C cable. A full charge takes about one hour and gives up to 8 hours of continuous writing and around 60 hours of standby. Connect the included dongle to a USB 3.0 port for quick pairing, or pair through Settings > Bluetooth.
Step 13: Use the AI Pen to move more freely
The AI Pen helps you work away from the screen. You can use it to ask follow-up questions, move through slides, highlight content and trigger Circle & Go while walking around the room. This keeps your session moving and reduces interruptions.
Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work
If CommBox AI is not working as expected:
- Restart the screen
- Check the internet connection by opening a website in the browser
- Install any available system updates
- Try another AI app to see whether the issue affects one tool or all tools
- Confirm the screen is a CommBox Classic S5
- Confirm the AI licence is active
- Check that the AI apps have not been hidden or disabled in device management
If there is still an issue, note the screen model, CommBox OS version, the AI tool you were using, what happened before the problem, and any error message shown. Then log a ticket on the Support Portal at Knowledge Base.
