How to change the HDMI EDID on your CommBox Classic S4

To improve compatibility with older devices or fix HDMI issues, you can switch the HDMI EDID version from 2.0 to 1.4 directly from the input settings on your CommBox Classic S4.

Applies To

Classic S4, Classic S4+

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Switch to the HDMI source

Make sure the screen is set to the HDMI input that your device is connected to.

2. Open the Inputs Menu

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the slide-up menu.

3. Navigate to the 'Other' Tab

In the top menu of the input settings, scroll across to find and select the Other tab.

4. Change the HDMI Version

  • Find the HDMI Version setting.

  • Tap it and select 1.4 instead of 2.0.

5. Confirm the Setting

Exit the menu—your changes will be saved automatically.

💡 Tip: HDMI 1.4 may be more stable with older laptops, projectors or AV equipment that don’t fully support HDMI 2.0.

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work

  • No signal after switching? Try restarting both the CommBox and your connected device.

  • Still having issues? Try using a different HDMI cable, preferably one rated as a Premium High-Speed HDMI cable.

  • Touch not responding? Make sure your HDMI device is also connected via the USB Touch port.
