How to Integrate CommBox with Q-SYS Using the CommBox Plugin

Control your CommBox screen directly from your Q-SYS system using the official CommBox plugin. This integration allows seamless management of display functions such as power, input switching, and volume from your Q-SYS touch interface.

Applies To

  • CommBox Classic S4, S5, Horizon, Intelligent Display, Meeting Room Display, Atom

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1

Download the CommBox Q-SYS plugin

  • Visit the QSC Q-SYS Asset Manager within the Q-SYS Designer Software

  • Search for CommBox Display Control Plugin

  • Click Install to add it to your design environment

💡 Tip: The plugin supports TCP/IP control of CommBox displays, making setup easy over your existing network.

Step 2

Add the plugin to your design

  • Open your Q-SYS project in Q-SYS Designer

  • Drag the CommBox Display Plugin into your schematic

  • Connect it to a Control Script or UCI (User Control Interface) as needed

Step 3

Configure network settings

  • Enter the IP address of your CommBox display in the plugin’s properties panel

  • Set the TCP port to 4660, which is the default for CommBox control over IP

  • Confirm that your display and Q-SYS Core are on the same network

Step 4

Test the control functions
The plugin supports common commands such as:

  • Power On/Off

  • Input source selection (e.g. HDMI1, HDMI2, USB-C)

  • Volume adjustment

  • Mute toggle

  • Feedback status (for confirmation of power/input state)

💡 Tip: You can link these commands to scheduling blocks or room automation triggers within your Q-SYS system.
