How to Connect Your Laptop to the CommBox Meeting Room Display Gen 2

Find out how to connect your laptop or computer to the CommBox Meeting Room Display Gen 2 using HDMI, USB-C, DisplayPort, or VGA.

Applies To CommBox Meeting Room Display Gen 2 — All models

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Choose the Right Cable

  • HDMI — most common option, carries video and audio in one cable
  • USB-C — single cable for video and audio if your laptop supports video over USB-C
  • DisplayPort — high-quality alternative to HDMI, supports 4K
  • VGA — for older laptops only; carries video only, requires a separate audio cable

💡 Tip: HDMI is the easiest option for most users. Use HDMI 1 for your main device as it also supports ARC (Audio Return Channel).

Step 2: Power On the Screen

  • Press the Power button on the remote or the screen
  • Wait for the screen to fully start before connecting

Step 3: Connect Your Cable

  • Plug one end of the cable into your laptop
  • Plug the other end into the matching port on the back of the screen

Step 4: Select the Correct Input

  • Press SOURCE on the remote or INPUT on the screen
  • Use arrow keys to highlight the correct input (e.g. HDMI 1)
  • Press OK to confirm

Step 5: Adjust Your Laptop's Display Settings

  • On Windows: press Windows + P to choose duplicate, extend, or second screen only
  • On Mac: go to System Preferences > Displays to set your display arrangement

💡 Tip: If you are using USB-C and nothing appears, check that your laptop's USB-C port supports video output. Not all USB-C ports carry video.

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn't Work

  • No image after connecting — confirm the correct input source is selected and the cable is firmly plugged in at both ends
  • No sound when using VGA — VGA carries video only; connect a separate cable to the Audio In port on the screen
  • Image looks stretched — adjust the aspect ratio in Image Settings, or change your laptop's output resolution to 3840 × 2160 (4K) or 1920 × 1080
