What’s Included in a CommBox OS Bundle

A CommBox OS Bundle is a packaged software update that delivers the latest version of the CommBox operating system along with updated CommBox apps and system tools—all in one easy install. It is installed from the CommBox Store. 

It typically includes:

  • ✅ Latest CommBox OS updates (performance, stability, and security improvements)

  • ✅ Updates to Pre-installed CommBox apps and tools such as Homescreen, CommBox Exp, Tools like Clock, Planner, Phonemes etc. 

  • ✅ New features and tools added to the OS or app environment

  • ✅ Bug fixes and enhancements based on user feedback

A CommBox OS bundle update is different from a firmware update. A firmware update, will makes changes to all layers of the operating system including system drivers. Firmware updates are typically shipped once or twice a year. A CommBox OS Bundle update updates all the CommBox OS user interaction layer. The separation of this layer from the underlying firmware allows us to ship new features more regularly. 

Sometimes a firmware update will also require you to do a CommBox OS Bundle update as well.

How to Access the Latest OS Bundle

Step 1

Go to the Store on your CommBox screen. Note that if there is an update there will also be an indicator on the homescreen letting you know that an update is available. 

Step 2

Tap on the CommBox OS Bundle update banner that will be across the top of the store when there is an update. If there is no banner - then CommBox OS is up to date. 

Step 3

If a new OS Bundle is available, tap Update.

🔁 Auto-updates: If enabled, your screen may automatically download and apply OS Bundles overnight.

💡 Note: Internet connection is required to download OS Bundles.

💡 Note: You can reach out to CommBox Support and find out how to push the CommBox OS Bundle from Manage. 

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work

  • If the update fails, restart your CommBox and try again

  • Make sure your screen is connected to a stable Wi-Fi or ethernet connection
