# How to use the remote control with your CommBox Classic S4

## The CommBox remote control gives you quick access to power, volume, inputs, settings, and more—without leaving your seat.

#### What the Remote Can Do

With the CommBox remote control, you can:

- Turn the screen on or off
- Adjust the volume
- Switch between HDMI, USB-C, and OPS inputs
- Open settings or menus
- Lock the screen or touch input
- Launch the whiteboard or call up tools like the freeze screen

#### Remote Control Button Guide

Here’s a quick overview of key buttons and what they do:

| **Button** | **Function** |
| --- | --- |
| **Power** | Turn the screen on/off or into standby |
| **Mute** | Toggle audio on/off |
| **VOL+ / VOL-** | Raise or lower the volume |
| **CH+ / CH-** | Not used in current CommBox models |
| **Input** | Open the input source list (HDMI, USB-C, OPS etc.) |
| **Home** | Return to the Android home screen |
| **Menu** | Open the settings menu |
| **Back** | Go back to the previous screen or close pop-ups |
| **Whiteboard** | Launch the CommBox Whiteboard app |
| **Lock / Unlock** | Lock or unlock touch and front panel buttons |
| **Freeze** | Freeze the current screen image while allowing continued device use |
| **Numeric keys (0–9)** | Use for input naming or navigation if supported |
| **F1–F12** | Functions only available when using a connected Windows OPS PC |

#### Special Function Keys

- **Alt+Tab / Alt+F4 / Space / Start**  
  These keys only work when using a connected **Windows OPS PC** and mirror common keyboard shortcuts.
- **Green / Yellow / Red / Blue buttons**  
  These are used for quick functions like accessing settings or tools depending on the screen’s current input or app.

💡 *Tip: If you're not using an OPS PC, Windows-specific buttons will not have any effect.*

#### Using the Remote Effectively

- **Point the remote** at the **infrared sensor** on the bottom-left of the CommBox bezel.
- Keep the remote **within 5 metres** and **avoid obstructions** like furniture or whiteboard accessories.

#### Battery Information

- Uses **2 x AAA batteries** (included in the box)
- Replace if the remote becomes unresponsive
- Store batteries safely and remove them if the remote won’t be used for long periods

#### Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work

- **No response?**
  
    - Check if the screen is powered on via the main switch at the back
    - Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly and not flat
    - Try pressing the Power button directly on the screen to verify screen status
- **Wrong input selected?**
  
    - Press the **Input** button and use the arrows to choose the correct source
- **Touch input not working after switching?**
  
    - Make sure the USB touch cable is connected (if using HDMI input)
