How to use Sticky Notes on the CommBox Classic S5
Sticky Notes is a new overlay tool that lets you add coloured note cards to your screen at any time — on top of any app or input — for reminders, brainstorming or capturing student responses on the fly.
Applies To
CommBox Classic S5 — All models (Goanna firmware and above)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open Sticky Notes
- Tap the side menu handle to open the side menu.
- Tap Launcher, then select the Overlay Tools tab.
- Tap Sticky Notes.
- The app will open on top of whatever is currently on the screen.
Step 2: Add a new note
- Tap the + button to add a new sticky note card to the screen.
Step 3: Type or dictate your note
- Tap inside the note card and use the on-screen keyboard to type your note.
- Tap the microphone icon on the keyboard to use voice-to-text.
Step 4: Choose a colour
- Tap the colour selector on the note card to change its colour.
- Use different colours to categorise notes — for example, red for action items and yellow for ideas.
Step 5: Move and resize notes
- Tap and drag a note card to reposition it anywhere on the screen.
- Drag the corners to resize.
Step 6: Edit or delete a note
- Double-tap a note card to edit its content.
- Long-press a note card to access the Delete option.
💡 Tip: Use Sticky Notes during a class discussion to capture student responses on top of whatever you are showing — drag and group notes to organise ideas in real time without switching apps.
💡 Tip: Sticky Notes works as an overlay on any input, including a connected laptop. You can annotate over a Windows session or a video call without touching the connected device.
Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn't Work
- Sticky Notes is not in my Overlay Tools — open the CommBox Store and check for any available updates. Sticky Notes was added as part of the Goanna firmware update.
- Notes are disappearing when switching apps — this should not happen as Sticky Notes is an overlay. Try closing and reopening the app from the Launcher. If the issue continues, restart the screen.
- Cannot type inside a note card — tap directly inside the card body (not on the border). If the keyboard does not appear, check that the screen's on-screen keyboard is enabled in Settings.
