Applies To:

CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 — All sizes (43", 55", 65", 75", 86", 98")

Step 1: Check if the display is muted Press the mute button on the remote control to make sure mute is not enabled. The mute icon on screen will disappear if mute is turned off.

Step 2: Adjust the volume Press the VOL+ button on the remote control or the volume up button on the front of the display to increase the volume. Make sure it is not set to zero.

Step 3: Check the audio cable connection If you are using external speakers, verify that the audio cable is correctly and firmly plugged into the AUDIO OUT port on the back of the display and into your speaker or amplifier.

Step 4: Only one speaker has sound If audio is only coming from one side:

  • Go to the display menu and adjust the sound balance settings.
  • If you are using a connected computer, check the computer's sound control settings and make sure it is not set to output from one channel only.
  • Verify that the audio cable is correctly connected.

Step 5: HDMI output has no sound If you have connected an external device via HDMI OUT and there is no audio:

  • Check that an external audio device is also connected to the display.
  • Verify that the HDMI OUT connection is using a supported input channel. (Refer to the HDMI connection article for which channels support HDMI OUT.)

💡 Tip: For the best audio experience in a classroom, connect the display to an external speaker system via the AUDIO OUT port. The built-in speakers work well for smaller rooms, but a dedicated speaker system gives everyone a better experience.

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn't Work

  • Mute is off and volume is up, but still no sound — try a different audio cable and check connections at both ends.
  • Sound is distorted or crackling — reduce the volume slightly and check for interference from other devices near the display.
  • Still no audio after all steps — log a ticket on the Support Portal at support.commbox.com.au.
