How to set custom session lengths on the CommBox Classic S5

Custom session lengths let IT or admin teams control exactly how long a session runs on a shared screen before it automatically clears — ideal for aligning your screens with class periods or meeting room bookings.

Applies To

CommBox Classic S5 — All models (Goanna firmware and above, CommBox OS Experience required)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open CommBox OS Experience Settings

  • From the home screen, tap the CommBox Experience app.

Step 2: Go to Accounts and Sessions

  • Tap Accounts and Security, then tap Accounts and Sessions.

Step 3: Configure Session Length Presets

  • Tap Session Length Presets.
  • Add the durations that match your school's timetable or meeting room schedule, for example:
    • 40 minutes — standard class period
    • 80 minutes — double period
    • 45 minutes — standard meeting
    • 15 minutes — stand-up

Step 4: Choose whether users can set their own session length

  • Toggle Show Custom Session Length on if you want users to be able to choose a custom duration at login.
  • Toggle it off to restrict users to only the preset lengths you have configured.

Step 5: Save your settings

  • Tap Save. The session length options will now appear when a user starts a session.

💡 Tip: Turning off the custom session wheel and configuring a single preset time is a great option for busy shared spaces — sessions clear automatically at the end of every period without anyone needing to remember to log out.

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn't Work

  • Session length presets are not appearing at login — confirm CommBox Lobby is enabled, as session lengths are presented during the Lobby login flow.
  • Cannot find Session Length Presets — this option requires Goanna firmware and CommBox OS Experience. Make sure both are active and up to date.
  • Sessions are not clearing at the expected time — check that the session length preset is set correctly and that Lobby is enabled with the correct Access Policy.
