How to factory reset your CommBox Classic S5

Learn how to safely perform a factory reset on your CommBox Classic S5 to restore default settings and clear personal data.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Settings menu

From the home screen, tap the Settings icon in the side menu or launcher.

Step 2: Select 'System'

Scroll to the bottom and tap System.

Step 3: Tap 'Reset Options'

In the System menu, choose Reset options.

Step 4: Choose 'Erase all data (factory reset)'

Tap Erase all data (factory reset). This will remove all user data and return the screen to its original setup.

Step 5: Confirm your choice

Tap Reset Screen. You may be asked to enter your PIN or administrator code.

Step 6: Wait for the process to complete

The screen will restart and begin the reset. This may take a few minutes. When finished, the Set-up Wizard will appear just like when you first turned the screen on.

💡 Tip: Make sure you back up any important files saved on the screen or in apps before performing a reset.

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work

  • If your screen is unresponsive, you can perform a hard reset by using the pinhole reset button (if available) or switching the main power off and on again at the switch behind the right speaker.

  • If the reset option is greyed out or not available, ensure you are using an admin account or contact your IT administrator.

  • If your screen remains stuck on the loading screen after reset, log a ticket with CommBox Support via the Support Portal.
