How to connect your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 to a wired network via LAN

Learn how to connect your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 to your school's wired network using an Ethernet (LAN) cable for a fast, reliable internet connection.

Applies To: CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 — All sizes (43", 55", 65", 75", 86", 98")

Step 1: Get an Ethernet cable You will need a standard Ethernet (also called a LAN or RJ45) cable. Your school's IT team may already have one run to the wall near your display.

Step 2: Locate the LAN port on your display Find the LAN port on the back of your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2. It looks like a wide phone socket and is labelled "LAN."

Step 3: Connect the Ethernet cable Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the back of the display, and the other end into your wall network socket or router. You should hear a small click when the cable is properly seated.

Step 4: Turn on the display Power on your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2. Once it starts up, it should automatically connect to your network. No additional setup is required in most school environments.

💡 Tip: A wired LAN connection is more reliable than Wi-Fi and is recommended for video streaming, software updates, and anything that needs a steady connection. This keeps your display connected and updates running smoothly.

Step 5: Verify the connection Go to the display's Settings menu and check the network status to confirm the LAN connection is active.

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn't Work

  • No network connection — make sure the Ethernet cable is firmly plugged in at both ends. Try a different cable or a different wall socket if available.
  • Display connected but no internet — check with your school's IT team to confirm the network port is active and that the display's MAC address is permitted on the network (some schools restrict network access by device).
  • Display showing limited connection — try restarting the display and router or network switch.
