How to connect an external computer to your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 via USB-C
Learn how to connect a laptop or desktop computer to your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 using a USB Type-C cable so you can share your screen in the classroom.
Applies To:
CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 — All sizes (43", 55", 65", 75", 86", 98")
Step 1: Make all connections before plugging in power ⚠️ Important: For your safety and the safety of the display, do not plug in the power cord before making your device connections.
Step 2: Connect the USB Type-C cable to your computer Plug one end of a USB Type-C cable into your computer's USB Type-C port.
Step 3: Plug the other end into the display Connect the other end of the USB Type-C cable into the USB Type-C port on the back of your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2.
💡 Tip: The USB Type-C port on the CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 supports charging, data transfer, and audio/video output. Note that the maximum charging power of this port is 65W — do not use it to charge devices that require more than 65W.
Step 4: Plug in the power cord and turn on the display Plug the power cable into the display and flip the Power Switch to the "I" position.
Step 5: Turn on your computer Start up your external computer as you normally would.
Step 6: Press the power button on the display Press the power button on the front of the CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 to turn on the screen.
Step 7: Switch to the USB Type-C input Press the INPUT button on the remote control or on the front of the display. Select the USB Type-C channel from the input list. Your computer's screen should now appear on the display.
Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn't Work
- No picture on screen — confirm the USB Type-C cable is firmly connected at both ends and that you have selected the USB Type-C input source on the display.
- Computer is not detected — try a different USB Type-C cable, as some cables only carry power and do not carry video signals.
- Screen appears but nothing is happening — make sure your computer has finished starting up and that it is not in sleep mode.
- Charging not working — verify that your device's charging requirement does not exceed 65W.
