Quick Summary:
Getting the picture right on your CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 makes a real difference to how clearly students can see your content. This guide walks you through adjusting the key picture settings using the display's on-screen menu.
Step 1: Open the Settings menu
Press the Menu button on your remote control or on the front of the display. This opens the main on-screen menu.
💡 Tip: You can press the Menu button from anywhere — you don't need to be on the home screen first.
Step 2: Navigate to Picture settings
Use the arrow keys on the remote control to navigate to the Picture or Display settings section. Press Enter to open it.
Step 3: Adjust Brightness
Select Brightness from the picture settings menu. Use the left and right arrow keys to decrease or increase the brightness level. A good starting point for most classrooms is a brightness level that makes the screen comfortable to look at without causing glare.
💡 Tip: If your classroom gets a lot of direct sunlight during the day, you may need to increase brightness so the screen remains clearly visible. Reducing brightness in darker rooms is easier on the eyes and also helps extend the lifespan of the screen.
Step 4: Adjust Contrast
Select Contrast from the picture settings menu. Increasing contrast makes the difference between light and dark areas of the image more pronounced, which can make text and diagrams easier to read. Adjust using the left and right arrow keys until the image looks clear and defined.
Step 5: Adjust Colour
Select Colour (also shown as Chromaticity on some menus) to adjust the intensity of colours on screen. Increasing this setting makes colours more vivid; decreasing it makes the image look more muted. Find a level that looks natural and easy to read.
Step 6: Use Automatic Correction (PC Mode)
If you are using the CommBox Intelligent Display Gen 2 in PC Mode with a connected computer, you can select Automatic Correction from the menu to let the display automatically optimise the picture settings for the current input signal. This is a quick way to resolve most picture quality issues without manual adjustment.
Step 7: Save your settings
Once you are happy with the picture, press the Back button on the remote control to exit the menu. Your settings will be saved automatically.
⚠️ Avoid displaying very high-brightness images for extended periods. This can reduce the lifespan and performance of the screen over time. Lower brightness during periods when the display is showing static content or is not actively in use.
Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn't Work
- Picture still looks washed out after adjustments — check that the signal cable connecting your device is firmly plugged in. A loose cable can affect image quality.
- Colours look incorrect or tinted — try resetting the picture settings to default from within the menu, then re-adjust from scratch.
- Settings reset after each use — this may indicate a firmware issue. Log a ticket on the Support Portal at support.commbox.com.au.
- Automatic Correction option not visible — this option is only available in PC Mode when a computer is connected via a compatible input. Switch to the correct input source and try again.
