How CommBox AutoFill keeps passwords secure and private

Understand the security model so you can use AutoFill with confidence in shared spaces.

Applies To
Applies to: CommBox Classic S5 (Goanna firmware), CommBox AutoFill, CommBox Accounts

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Store credentials securely in your Vault

CommBox AutoFill stores usernames and passwords so you don’t need to re-type them daily.

Step 2: Use your CommBox Account to access AutoFill

AutoFill integrates with your CommBox Account, so your Vault is tied to you.

Step 3: Unlock with a PIN on the screen

A PIN adds a protective step before credentials appear, which is ideal in front-of-room scenarios.

Step 4: Rely on encryption and privacy safeguards

The guide states credentials are encrypted in transit and at rest, not visible to other users, and not shared without permission.

Step 5: Understand automatic re-PIN prompts

You’re prompted to re-enter the PIN every 5 minutes as a safety feature if you step away.

💡 Tip: This approach suits shared classrooms and meeting rooms because it reduces the chance of credentials being exposed.

Troubleshooting / What to Do If It Doesn’t Work

  • If you forget the PIN, you need to reset the Vault, and saved passwords are erased and can’t be recovered. (See page 7)
