What’s New

Preset Home Screens

Getting started is now easier with a selection of preset home screen layouts designed for different rooms and uses. Choose the layout that best suits your space, then get up and running in minutes.

Available presets include:

  • Meeting Preset - Configured for video conferencing using CommBox Connect.
  • Signage Launcher - Optimised for displaying signage and announcements.
  • Default Preset - A familiar layout for users transitioning from previous CommBox screens.
  • Quick Play Preset - Designed for quickly sharing and presenting media.
  • Launcher Preset - A streamlined layout focused on accessing installed applications.

These presets provide a faster setup experience and make it easier to tailor the screen to how it will be used.

Web Controller

The new Web Controller gives IT administrators a convenient way to manage a CommBox screen from a web browser.

Connect to the screen over the network and control it directly from your laptop. Web Controller allows you to:

  • Use all functions available on the physical remote control.
  • Customise home screen layouts and content.
  • Configure media to display on the home screen.
  • Send video links directly to the screen for instant playback.

This makes managing a screen quicker and more convenient, without needing to be in the room or use the physical remote.

Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • Added a Launch Item setting, allowing the screen to start with signage or your preferred app.
  • Improved Cloud Drive reliability and functionality.
  • Enhanced Wake-on-LAN performance for more reliable remote wake-up.
  • Fixed an issue affecting the boot splash screen during startup.
  • General stability and performance improvements.

Security

  • Updated cyber security protections to improve the security and resilience of the system.
